Known for its many galleries, restaurants, bars and lush green landscapes bordering the canals, East Berlin has long attracted artists and students for its relatively low prices and grungy vibes. Today families and professionals are moving to this trendy area.
Kreuzkölln is the area located between the eastern edge of Kreuzberg and the northern border of Neukölln. While geographically located in the eastern part of Berlin, historically this area was located to the West of the Berlin Wall. As a result, the neighbourhood benefited from an urban development style which conserved the many historical buildings that we see today.
The area is extremely sought after and has seen some of the city’s biggest price increases in recent years. Many of the districts streets have fallen under the “Milieuschutz” regulation, meaning there is not likely to be an increase in available housing in the coming years.
